Widely used for power cables, fiber-optic communication cables, and underground pipelines, these materials effectively protect against mechanical damage, chemical corrosion, and environmental factors. PE sheathing materials are categorized by density into HDPE (High-Density Polyethylene) and LDPE (Low-Density Polyethylene); HDPE offers superior strength and temperature resistance, making it suitable for harsh environments, whereas LDPE is more flexible and ideal for applications requiring bending.
Production typically involves extrusion molding, with formulations adjustable to enhance properties such as UV resistance and flame retardancy. Key specifications to consider include thickness, ring stiffness (e.g., exceeding 4 kN), and operating temperature range (commonly -40°C to 60°C). During installation, care must be taken to avoid scratches from sharp objects, as prolonged exposure to high temperatures or strong acids may reduce the material's service life.
