1. Improves pigment dispersion in the finished product: During masterbatch production, pigments undergo refinement to enhance their dispersibility and tinting strength. Specialized masterbatches use a carrier resin identical to the plastic of the finished product, ensuring excellent compatibility; upon melting, the pigment particles disperse effectively within the plastic matrix.
2. Preserves pigment chemical stability: Direct use of pigments exposes them to air during storage and processing, leading to issues like moisture absorption and oxidation. In contrast, masterbatch encapsulates the pigment within a resin carrier, isolating it from air and moisture and thereby maintaining pigment quality over the long term.
3. Ensures color consistency: Masterbatch pellets are similar in size to resin pellets, allowing for convenient and accurate dosing. They do not adhere to mixing containers and blend uniformly with the resin, ensuring a consistent additive ratio and, consequently, stable product color.
4. Protects operator health: Pigments are typically supplied as powders that easily become airborne during addition and mixing; inhalation poses health risks to operators.
5. Maintains a clean environment.
6. Easy to use.
