The composition of a color masterbatch typically consists of three parts:

‌Pigments/Additives‌: The core components that determine color or functionality. These include inorganic or organic pigments-such as titanium dioxide (white), carbon black (black), and phthalocyanine blue (blue)-or functional additives like antioxidants and toughening agents.
‌Resin Carrier‌: Acts as the dispersion medium for the pigment and must be compatible with the base resin. Common carriers include polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), and polystyrene (PS); among these, PP-based masterbatches are widely used in processes such as injection molding and blow molding due to their low cost and good processability.
‌Dispersing Agent‌: Enhances pigment dispersion within the resin, prevents agglomeration, and ensures color uniformity. Common dispersing agents include low-molecular-weight polyethylene wax and stearates.
