Halogen-free flame-retardant TPE materials are widely used in the cable industry. Unlike traditional PVC, these TPE materials do not emit toxic gases during combustion and maintain low smoke density; they effectively inhibit burning due to their inherent flame-retardant properties.

Formulating flame-retardant TPE cable compounds is akin to mixing a precision cocktail, requiring a balance between elasticity and strength. A typical formulation includes:

Base material: SEBS/PP blend system (60–80%)

Plasticizer system: White oil (15–25%)

Flame-retardant system: A combination of aluminum hydroxide and zinc borate yields optimal results

Antioxidant package: Synergistic use of hindered phenols and phosphites
